3 August 1934 – 5 February 2024

We lost a giant of our Club yesterday.

Kevin was unwell in the morning and was taken to Royal Melbourne Hospital. He received great kindness and excellent care from their teams of professionals and died peacefully in the early afternoon.

When Kevin moved down from Ballarat in August 1974 he joined City of Melbourne. Over his almost fifty years of membership he was a tireless worker for the club in the roles of green keeper, greens director, treasurer and secretary (at one time both treasurer and secretary!) as well as being a great organiser and friend to all.

He was an outstanding bowler: club champion in 1982, 1996, 1999 and 2002, pairs champion (with Chris Awcock) in 1999 and an essential part of our firsts team.

It is no wonder he was awarded Life Membership in the 1980’s and we have a Kevin Mansbridge Green.

Kevin’s funeral will be at 1pm next Wednesday, 14 February, at St Brendan’s Catholic Church, 103 Wellington St Flemington. We will gather back at the club afterwards to remember our dear friend and club legend and share stories about this extraordinary man.

Kevin is pictured here with his great friend Clarice Travers at the Club Birthday Party on 18 August 2009 (the first in our new building), two weeks after his 75th birthday.
